University Research Fund applications

The Victoria University of Wellington Research Fund (URF) application form requires researchers to provide details of how data produced during and resulting from proposed projects will be managed. Key considerations and possible statements are provided in the sections below, with links to further information in this guide. Should you wish, you may copy details that are relevant to your research project into your URF application.

You can also download the Victoria University of Wellington Research Data Management Plan (DMP) Checklist below and enter your plan details. You can update and add to the plan as a living document throughout your research.

Will you be collecting your own data and/or reusing data that already exists? You will want to consider and include all potential types of data that are likely to be collected, including qualitative, quantitative, archival records, or recordings.

  • using secure storage that is backed up regularly;

  • implementing password access to data;

  • controlling access to files and folders;

  • anonymising personal or private data;

  • separating participant names from survey or interview data;

  • encrypting data containing personal information before storage or transmission;
