Write and cite using the Mendeley Citation Plugin

Mendeley can significantly speed up your writing process. The Citation Plugin allows you to easily cite materials that you’ve saved to your Mendeley account, automatically adding formatted in-text citations and reference list to your written work. Best of all, it allows you to completely reformat all of the citations in your written work to a different referencing style with just a couple of clicks.

Installing the Mendeley Plugin for Office 365

First install the Mendeley desktop software and then use the following instructions to add the Plugin to your Office 365.

  1. Open Word, then go to "file"->"options", a new window pops out.
  2. Select "Add-ins" in the left, then select "word add-ins" in "manage" (at the bottom), and click on "Go"
  3. Click "add", then select "Mendeley 1.19.4.dotm" from the Mendeley installation file, it may be in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mendeley Desktop\wordPlugin"
  4. Click OK, then you should find Mendeley in the "reference" tag on the top of word 365.
